New Certificates

Dear IIMQ Graduates and Students,

For the first time in the history of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a foreign Medical Qigong Institute has been approved by the Chinese government (Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education), and its academic standards and clinical protocols have been formally accepted by a TCM University.

After several years of academic and clinic evaluation by the Chinese Consulate General and Vice General (responsible for overseeing Sino-American TCM programs); the World Academic Society of Medical Qigong; the China Medical Qigong Association; the PRC's Ministry of Health, the PRC's Ministry of Education, and the Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (HUTCM), the International Institute of Medical Qigong (IIMQ) has been formally recognized and appointed as the Overseas College of Medical Qigong for the HUTCM. The IIMQ will represent the University in all matters of Medical Qigong academic and clinic training within the United States.

As the Overseas College of Medical Qigong for the HUTCM, we have been granted an official government stamp from the University which acknowledges our student's skill level and certifies their exceptional academic and clinical training.

According to the University regulations, the Director of the Overseas College of Medical Qigong for the HUTCM must issue certificates signifying the completion of a program (MQP, MQT, MMQ, and DMQ).

As such, all graduate certificates henceforth must be filed and processed through the Professor Johnson. These certificates must contain a minimum of three signatures: the Overseas Director of the HUTCM, the Executive Director of the IIMQ, and the student's current instructor.

To further acknowledge the IIMQ student's hard earned efforts, an agreement has also been made in which we have been authorized to "grandfather" existing graduates. Therefore, from March through December 2006, IIMQ graduates will be allowed to "upgrade" their current graduate certificates (MQP, MQT, MMQ, or DMQ). Please realize that this is a gift and is not mandatory. However, after December 2006, all graduate students must provide written transcripts validating all academic and clinical hours in order to qualify for these certificates.

The newly designed MQP and MQT certificates will be on similar paper as those previously issued. However, the header will be new and will include both the IIMQ and HUTCM logo (similar to the ones now used on our official Overseas Medical Qigong College Branches). These certificates will have the signatures and chops of both the Director (IIMQ Founder) and Deputy Director (IIMQ Executive Director) of the Overseas College of Medical Qigong, Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with the official PRC's government University seal.

The newly designed MMQ and DMQ certificates will be custom designed. The design for the DMQ will vary from the MMQ. They will be printed vertically on rice paper, and will also have the logos, signatures, and stamps noted above.

In order to qualify for this upgrade, simply send a copy of your IIMQ certificate (MQP, MQT, MMQ, or DMQ) along with the appropriate filing fee to Professor Johnson, at:
Professor Jerry Alan Johnson
PO Box 52144
Pacific Grove, CA 93950 USA

The new certificates and filing fees are posted as follows:
  • Medical Qigong Practitioner (MQP) - $200
  • Medical Qigong Therapist (MQT) - $300
  • Master of Medical Qigong (MMQ) - $400
  • Doctor of Medical Qigong (DMQ) - $500

Since we are the only Medical Qigong Institute that has ever received this type of acknowledgment and accreditation from the China, all IIMQ students and graduates should walk a little taller.

Congratulations to you all,

Professor Jerry Alan Johnson, PhD, DTCM, DMQ (China),
Founder, International Institute of Medical Qigong
Director, Overseas College of Medical Qigong, HUTCM
